- Non-communicable Disease: A disease that cannot be passed from one person to another. E.g. cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes.
- Risk Factor: Something that increases the likelihood of developing a disease. Can be lifestyle (smoking, diet) or genetic.
- Cardiovascular Disease: Diseases of the heart and blood vessels, including coronary heart disease. Often caused by fatty deposits (atheroma) in arteries.
- Stent: A small mesh tube inserted into a narrowed coronary artery to hold it open and restore blood flow.
